The best Jaunty alternative in 2026 is Volo if you want daily practice you can do privately, on your own schedule, for a fraction of the price. Toastmasters is the alternative if what you value in Jaunty is a live audience, and the Dale Carnegie Course if you want another instructor-led programme with a start and an end.

What is Jaunty?

Jaunty is live social skills coaching, not an app. Its site, which dates the company to 2013, describes classes where instructors teach a skill, students role-play it with actors and other members and get feedback, then take assignments into the real world. Topics include body language, conversational agility, flirting and dating, public speaking, storytelling, meeting new people, managing social anxiety, asking for what you need and saying no.

There are three ways in, as of November 2026. The Social Skills Masterclass is a six-week live cohort on Sunday afternoons Pacific time, limited to 25 students, listed at $1,596 paid in full or four payments of $399, including a year of Jaunty Gym access; the next cohort starts on 6 December 2026. A recorded version with the same Gym access is listed at $1,197. The Jaunty Gym itself is a membership with live virtual classes. Free 30-minute Apprentice Workshops run online on Sundays.

Why look for a Jaunty alternative?

The usual reasons are price, timing and privacy. The Masterclass costs more than a year of most apps combined. It runs on Sunday afternoons Pacific time, which rules out many time zones, and cohorts start on fixed dates. And some people want to practise alone before they practise in front of a class of 25.

How we compared

We compared published information as of November 2026 on four points: whether you practise with real people or privately, whether feedback is on what you specifically did, what the published cost is, and how much of your schedule it takes.

1. Volo

Volo is the best alternative for private daily practice. It is a mobile app with seven skill tracks, 79 lessons of two to four minutes, and 25 AI roleplay scenarios you can type or speak. Each scenario has a character with a personality and three goals, and the coach afterwards quotes the lines you said that worked and the ones that did not. That is the closest an app gets to Jaunty’s role-play-then-feedback loop, except you can run it at midnight and repeat it ten times.

Volo covers the same ground as Jaunty’s class list: meeting new people, conversation, dating conversations, speaking up, saying hard things. Teleprompter adds 15 read-aloud scenes that measure pace, fillers and pauses, and What To Say holds 61 scripts in three tones. Volo is free to download and try.

Limitation: there are no real people in Volo. For the live-audience part of Jaunty, pair it with Meetup or Toastmasters.

Best for: daily rehearsal before and between real conversations. Volo on the App Store · Social skills with Volo

2. Toastmasters

Toastmasters is the live-audience alternative at a published cost. Toastmasters has more than 14,000 clubs that meet in person or online, with speeches, club roles and peer feedback through its Pathways programme. As of September 2026 its site lists $72 in semiannual dues plus a $25 new-member fee, and visiting a club is free. It is speaking-focused rather than social-life-focused.

Best for: a weekly audience and structured feedback.

3. Dale Carnegie Course

The Dale Carnegie Course is the other instructor-led programme. Dale Carnegie runs a live group course on confidence, communication and leadership, in person or online, in eight or twelve weekly sessions or a three-day format. Prices come from local providers.

Best for: a fixed programme with an instructor, often employer-sponsored.

4. Meetup

Meetup is free practice with real people. Meetup puts you in recurring groups around an interest, which is where the skills from any course or app get used. No teaching, no feedback, no cost.

Best for: the real-world assignments, without the course.

5. Gleam

Gleam is the lesson-app alternative. Gleam offers bite-sized lessons, quizzes and practice conversations across communication, emotional intelligence, networking and public speaking, on iPhone and Android.

Best for: broad lessons on a phone, and Android users.

6. Jaunty’s free workshops

If cost is the only barrier, Jaunty’s own free workshops are the obvious first step. Jaunty’s workshops page lists 30-minute online Apprentice Workshops on Sundays that mix theory, exercises and mingling.

Best for: trying the method before paying for it.

How do the Jaunty alternatives compare?

Volo is the only option in this comparison you can use daily, privately, at any hour, with feedback on your exact words.

Option Format Practise with Feedback Published cost
Jaunty Masterclass Six live Sunday classes Actors, classmates Instructor and peers $1,596 or 4 x $399

Toastmasters Weekly club Members Peer evaluations $72 semiannual + $25
Dale Carnegie Course 8 or 12 sessions, or 3 days Group Instructor Local quote

Which Jaunty alternative should you pick?

Pick Volo if you want to practise every day without an audience and build up to real conversations. Pick Toastmasters if the audience is the point. Pick the Dale Carnegie Course if you want another cohort with an instructor. And use Meetup with any of them, because that is where the practice becomes a social life.
